The Beatriarchy is an online community which supports members of underrepresented groups in the underground electronic music scene, particularly women & gender minorities, people of Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

What began as a tuneshare group, has evolved into a safe space where people make new connections, share knowledge & tunes and promote their talent. The Beatriarchy was co-founded by Kitsta and Gracie T.

2.30 - 5.30: KEY OF SHE presents Experimental Synth Workshop

In collaboration with Key of She Collective (KoS) & the Radiophonic Institute , we will be holding a 3 hour improvisation and play workshop to experiment with synthesisers and experimental electronics . Facilitated by composer and sound Artist Maeve AKA Quieting/ DJ Loveable/ Domes FM (BOARC) & artist/ performer/ composer Lou Barnell (KoS collective member & Oram Award recipient)

You will have access to a range of synthesisers, and electronic sound making devices, and you do not need to have any experience of making electronic music. We’ll discuss how synthesis works, and we will encourage you to get the most out of these instruments, exploring how they behave and sound with guidance and support from Maeve and Lou. We’ll work towards some group improvised music towards the close of the session.

You do not need to bring any synthesisers or instruments to this event, we will supply them. (however, if you have a synth you would like to bring with you, you are welcome to do so). Please bring headphones with a jack if you have these (we will also have spares to supply) and if you wish to take a recording of your practice on the synth you are very welcome to bring your recording device with any necessary cables you might need for this (we may also have a couple spare)

The workshops are for ages 18+. It is open to women, non-binary, gender expansive communities, and LGBTQIA+ . We are inclusive of disabilities and neuro-divergent access needs. This workshop is a place for adults to play, listen, and be joyful.
