Membership Agreement
Gut Level is a not-for-profit DIY music, arts & social community that prioritises the experience of marginalised genders and LGBTQ+ people in Sheffield. It’s important that everybody who comes to our space and events feels welcomed, comfortable, free to express themselves.
All new members must be signed up 48 hours before attending a Gut Level event. This is a condition of the Club Premesis Licence we have applied for.
Membership Agreement
We ask that members:
Respect each other - Racism, ageism, homophobia, sexism, transphobia, ableism or prejudice based on ethnicity, nationality, class, gender, gender presentation, language ability, asylum status or religious affiliation is unacceptable.
Respect and look after the space you’re in - Take care of equipment, facilities and the surrounding area.
Create a welcoming space – Activity should be fun for everyone. Behaviour such as dominating the space excessively without consideration for others isn’t acceptable.
Sexual assault and physical violence will result in an immediate ban.
Understand privilege - Be aware of any positions and privileges you bring, including racial, class and gender privilege.
Understand boundaries - Always get verbal consent to avoid crossing anyone’s boundaries. Remember that everyone’s physical and emotional boundaries are different.
Don’t assume – Never make assumptions about someone’s circumstances. This can be, but isn’t limited to, gender, sexuality, race and class.
Know your limits – Be aware of your actions and how they could make others feel uncomfortable, being intoxicated isn’t a free pass.
Challenge prejudice and oppression - If you notice someone else looking or feeling uncomfortable at Gut Level due to another person’s actions, please raise it with other community members.
If you see any behaviour that goes against these values, come and find a team member and we will work to resolve it. We believe that collective action is the most effective way to make a positive space for everyone!
