DIY Members Venue & Bar in Sheffield

Gut Level is a not-for-profit venue and community space that aims to provide social and creative opportunities for underrepresented groups in Sheffield, with a particular focus on LGBTQ+ people, women and gender minorities.

Our new venue, which opened in May 2024, is located on Chapel Walk, Sheffield, and is our first space with a secure lease after 4 years of operating in meanwhile-use-spaces.

It is a social space to hang out, listen to music and meet friends. Open to members 5 days a week, we host gigs, club nights, workshops, co-working and more! The venue is set across two floors which includes a roof terrace that houses our community garden project, Wet Patch.

Profits from the bar, gigs and club nights fund community activity and organising, workshops, equipment access and Wet Patch.

Gut Level is a members space and you will need to be a member to access Chapel Walk. More info on membership here

Our project was founded in response to the lack of financially accessible, queer friendly, venues in Sheffield. We believe in keeping things cheap, championing local talent and building networks of collaboration and care.

In an ever individualistic world, we hope to create a community in which people can share skills, support and inspire each other and most importantly - dance!

Our aims are to provide:

  • A cheap, multi-use events and social space for our members to enjoy.

  • Access to industry-standard DJ equipment, with particular focus on building skills and networks within underrepresented groups.

  • Grassroots creative activities that encourages the voice and vision of underrepresented groups within Sheffield.

  • Equal pay to all artists and DJs regardless of their following.
