We invite one of our favourite London party starters for a communion of hip churning euphoria at Chapel Walk.
Sofie K
Holding down their monthly NTS show for the past 7 years, Sofie K’s selections span wonky proto-house, sleazy synth pop andother miscellaneous pumpers. Their upbeat, unfussy sound earned them a residency at London-based queer party Pumping Velvet, and frequent appearances at Corsica Studios, Pickle Factory and The White Hotel. They've released a string of productions for charity compilations on Ransom Note, Human Endeavour and and Pollination. Sofie helped set up the Manchester & Salford Save Our Scene collective, soundtracked documentary short Mosaic, and designed a string of charity t-shirts raising money for organisations like Sistah Space and Medical Aid For Palestinians
SAM PV
Sam is the founder and a resident at Pumping Velvet, a London-based Queer dance party, and regularly plays at queer parties across the UK alongside a US tour and other international gigs including Planeta Manas (Lisbon), Savage (Hanoi), Kockiri (Seoul) and (Re)treat Festival (Vietnam). Sam grew up in London, his tastes moulded by the city’s diverse dance music scenes: from childhood trips to Notting Hill Carnival, to formative dancefloor experiences at nights like FWD, Trash and Süd Electronic. He brings these influences to his DJing in sets that span a broad gamut of genres, tied together by a love for big drums, pop melodies and sleaze. Frustrated by the lack of queer spaces where you could hear both a Svek record and Kylie in the same night, Sam founded Pumping Velvet in 2018, driven by the firm belief that any barriers erected between pop and ‘serious’ dance music are entirely artificial and that there’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure. It’s this same ethos and disregard for boundaries that makes his DJ so thrilling.
