Safer DIY Spaces with Good Night Out Campaign [This workshop is now full]
Monday 01 March 2021 Via Zoom
2hr interactive workshop session on building safer more inclusive DIY venues and events, with a focus on understanding and responding to sexual harassment and assault, both on the night and in the community. Delivered by two specialist facilitators from Good Night Out.
This session is aimed at volunteers, promoters and organisers but we hope everyone will get something from it. With events currently on pause, we reckon it is a great time to reflect on our practises and look to how we can have safer parties for everyone moving forward <3
Good Night Out is the campaign for safer nightlife that has worked more than two thousand nightlife workers across several hundred spaces in various countries. The session will be a chance to dive deep on consent, ethical and legal frameworks, as well as exploring practical tips for and how our social understandings of safety violence inform our ability to challenge it. There will be opportunities to discuss accountability after harm, creating consistent consequences and other practical activities to get you thinking!
