DiaspoRIDDIM is an inclusive genre-defying, border-hopping celebration of the deep connections between migration, identity, and music. For our next session, we are deeply excited to welcome the absolute legend that is DJ Ritu to Sheffield!

She performs all over the world, has hosted radio shows for BBC London, BBC World Service, Kiss 100, the BBC Asian Network. A pioneer of the 90's Asian Underground Scene, DJ Ritu co-founded Outcaste Records (signing Nitin Sawhney, Badmarsh & Shri, and sourcing the first record deal for the then fledgling Asian Dub Foundation at Nation Records). She also co-created some of the world's longest running South Asian club nights: Club Kali (a place of safety and celebration for the South Asian LGBT+ community - now in its 30 year!) and Kuch Kuch Bollywood Nights.

In addition to being an Asian Underground pioneer, DJ Ritu is a Bollywood and Bhangra specialist (creating one of the first definitive Bhangra compilations for the Rough Guide series in the early 2000s) and a musical chameleon whose live selections can seemlessly segue between Soul, Disco, Motown, Pop, House, Drum n' Bass, as well as Turkish, Greek, African, Latin, and Middle-Eastern sounds. Keeping her equally diverse and free-minded dancefloors bouncing all night!

Supported by DiaspoRIDDIM residents, DisOrientalist, Kom Kom, and Palanca Negra, this night will be a rare treat, so don't miss it!
