Interdisciplinary artist, Ashley Holmes, will be providing space to collectively listen and hold discursive space around relationships to music, sound, memory and oral histories.

Following the format of a series of Open Deck listening sessions hosted by Ash, there will be a turntable, mixer, laptop and aux cable, and each person in attendance is invited to share their own choice of music or sound recording that they have a memory, story or association to. Where

For this multi-sensory session we will be heading over to Site Gallery to immerse ourselves in their super soft and squishy sculpture exhibition. As part of their summer exhibition Wishful Thinking, designed by Site Gallery’s youth collective The Society of Explorers.

About the artist

Ashley Holmes is a Sheffield-based artist with an interdisciplinary practice centred around radical interdependence and sonic processes to explore notions of storytelling, ownership and alternative forms of knowledge production. His work ranges across sound, drawing, site-specific installations, performance, radio broadcasts and collaborative projects. Ashley is a resident at No Bounds Festival / Hope Works 2023-24 and is a resident on Mondo Radio. He has hosted Tough Matter, a monthly broadcast on NTS Radio since 2017 and also facilitates Open Deck, a series of gatherings giving space to collectively listen and hold discursive space around relationships to music, sound, memory and oral histories.

Accessibility
